1 Overall not happy with them and only staying with them until the cancellation fee is low enough to move to another provider. I wouldn't recommend them as an internet provider especially if you are not on their cable network. If you do join them be aware that getting a mobile phone with your broadband will lock you in for 2 years with a large cancellation fee. 16 November 2010

2 Dont know where to start. First got told by the salesperson that i can cancel my internet at any time without incurring a fee as long as i keep my phone connection with them. WRONG. Then got overcharged $50/month for the first 3 months. And in order to resolve these took numerous phone calls where each one took over an hour for them to answer and also kept getting "transferred". The call back option is unreliable i have not yet once been called back. Neither do they reply to the emails that i sent. Then there was a fault on the telephone line in which was alot of static and would randomly disconnect at times, they then sent out a technician which did not resolve the problem. Got fed up and moved ISP to which was charged a $199 early termination fee. I rang them complaining regarding that i shouldn't be charged as they didnt provide me with a service (technician did not fix the problem and the phone was practically unusable). Their explanation is that they did provide me with the service as they had sent out a technician and though he did not fix the line, they had fulfilled thier obligation by sending him out and "the fault may or may not have been telstraclears fault". Interesting as since i've moved to vodafone there has been no problems. Absolutely useless and would not recommend this company to anyone. 25 November 2010

4 Customer service is key, technical faults are understandable and faster we can check things out and find a solution the better. Telstraclear customer response time & then quality of response is just crap. They fob you off best they can, and this is AFTER they take up to a week+ to respond by "solving" the ticket??? How is "case closed" a response to "why is my internet disconnecting 5 times in a 10min period"?!? Useless. I'm moving the home, business & church to a new ISP and recommending all who have trouble with TC to do the same. 15 December 2010

8 Where to start - its taken them 4 weeks to connect our phone - we're in the middle of Auck city.. ?? support is useless - I want to stab myself in the eye after speaking with them. I estimate I have spent 30hrs + on the phone just to get the phone connected, let alone the broadband which they didnt even process the order for until after 28 days, eventhough there was multiple calls daily. 'Its is being processed' is the generic answer for someone in Ph'pnes. Biggest mistake ever. Still waiting - requested compensation and was offered $5 - told them not to bother 25 January 2011

10 Terrible business tactics and service. I didn't even want to be on their service. They scammed me into signing a contract with them telling me it wasn't even a contract. I am now stuck with them in a battle trying to get back to my old provider (Slingshot). If your services are so unappealing you need to rely on scamming people, then how bad are your services. Absolutely horrible. I wouldn't recommend them to my enemies. 24 February 2011

14 Very poor customer service and really crappy internet speeds (even when you go over your limit and are charged at an exorbitant rate!!) I know this isn’t related to broadband, but when I got sucked in to renewing my cellphone contract for two years the person I spoke to told me I would get a free upgrade. Only, when the bill arrived, I was still charged a monthly fee for 'handset lease' or something like that. Took about five phonecalls (me ringing them as they always said 'someone will get back to you' but never did) and a few (unanswered) emails to finally sort this out (was damed if I was going to pay $240 for a shitty Nokia 2370c!). Would definitely not recommend this company to anyone - If only we weren't hooked in for another year and a half!!! 18 April 2011

15 We have the Biz broadband package and even though we right in town where it should run fast I often have multiple pages timeout before opening. Customer service is hopeless. They gave be a Job number and told me they would get back. The next time I heard from them was via an answer phone message telling me there was nothing wrong and they were deleting the job reference. Unfortunately the problems remain! As I write this I am on hold waiting for someone to provide some customer service. 1 May 2011

20 This is a terrible company. It took about 5 months for them to even connect me from the time of signing me up from a door to door offer. Speeds aren't great. Takes about 3-4 phone calls to deal with any problems. I have been constantly over charged requiring more back and forth phone calls. The automatic add on after my broadband limit is reached is just ridiculous. STAY AWAY from Telstraclear. 10 July 2011

22 Been with Telstraclear for around 5year. They have given fast and reliable service. They do however let themselves down on value. Also I find the amount of data I get charged for each month doesn't seem to add up with what i have used. Will be switching to a different provider. 28 July 2011

23 Only with them because of their faster plans, however not peering means that to some of my international gaming servers in australia i have to tolerate up to 3 times the latency that people on rival NZ networks have to. I would like to see a pricing review sometime soon and implementation of 100mbit, but i suppose they would be unable to handle the backhaul? 3 August 2011

24 I dont understand whats wrong with other's services and the poor reviews here. They must be very unlucky but I guess $#!t happens and it happened to some angry chaps. I Would definitely recommend for anyone who needs good broadband service for their family. 26 Simon Every single call to customer service took at least 20 minutes, just to get through. I didn't have one successful call until I made a formal complaint. Because I vented my frustration on more than one occasion, I'm sure notes were made on my record and every dealing with them since has been bad. HIGHLY UNRECOMMENDED! 17 October 2011

29 kerrie speed is very slow and connection is crap, and i live in a telstra area. not good to play xbox live on, my so gets dissconnected about 4 times a day and our package is 40g but there are no other good broadband companies. ill put it simple. if you want fast broadband, MOVE TO ANOTHER COUNTRY. 9 January 2012

30 James Good speed but seem to lose my connection quite a bit, and i'm wired in to modem. I also have enormous difficulty accessing a certain website i subscribe to sometimes, but who knows that could just be my PC. Because of no cable paying for a phoneline i don't use so paying $108 pm instead of the $55 i could have got if i had access to cable. Also took a few weeks after receiving modem before service would work. Overall alright just paying more than i think i should be paying. 27 January 2012

31 Warren Aside, for that weekend where they trialed the unlimited service not so long ago, I never had any issues with my cable connection so I can't really critique in that dept. However, the times i did i ring in with queries, their staff were friendly and well informed enough, and the parts where you had to listen to a recorded voice wasn't overkill. I'll be leaving Telstra's cable broadband soon. Not because I want to, but because I have people staying with me and I can't help going over\smashing my monthly allowance. I'm not looking forward to going to Slingshots 150GB plan, but that sort of usage would cost me an arm and a leg with Telstra 21 February 2012

33 Sue Ok I rung Telstra clear on 2nd march 2012 to connect,I couldn't understand the person so I tried to repeat what he was saying so that was frustrating but ok. I got told that I would be up an running with phone and Internet between 4 to 7 days ok that's fine, I rung a week later and asked when my info pack would be arriving as I had nothing to confirm if I was a customer yet... As I ask for it they had told me it was only sent out on the 9th.( not happy) then I told them that I'm still waiting to connect well that's when I got angry they told me 16 th march that's two weeks from the time I signed up....... 35 Miss P I was a Telecom customer, had a salesman from Telstra Clear come to my door and sell me their $75month package. MOVING TO TELSTRA CLEAR WAS THE WORST MISTAKE! First off the internet wasn't working. When you finally get through to someone on the line (and believe me you'll be waiting a while, i was waiting almost an hour, unfortunately they don't have the call back option) you give them your query and they put you through to someone else! and guess what you're waiting yet again. Not to mention when you do finally get through to someone it's either an Indian in NZ or a f***** filipino in the Philippines. I wanted to discuss my bill with someone and was told that in order to discuss the mobile phone portion of my bill i would have to speak to someone entirely different then the person i was discussing the land line portion of my bill with WTF More waiting yet again... My internet connection when I first switched over to Telstra Clear wasn't working properly, it kept cutting off, They ran a test on the line and said that it was a faulty modem (the modem that they gave for free by the way with their plan) So i said OK can you send me a new one they said no it's my problem. I have to contact the Company that made the modem directly and sort this shit out myself. I was like WTF. so I stuck my original modem that i was using previously and guess what same problem. I had filters on all my lines and they said it must be a faulty filter somewhere. I said these are the same filters I was using with Telecom, why all the sudden would they stop working, they were working fine with Telecom. So anyway long story short I got my internet sorted out MYSELF b/c they weren't doing a damn thing about it, and guess what the modem was not faulty like they said it was. I spoke to a guy on the phone in their tech dept and he said that he had never had issues with Telecom either with his internet connection and that he had problems with Telstra Clear. They are rude on the phone and do not care about customer service at all! BEWARE stay away!! 28 March 2012

39 JAM I can only rate Cable internet, as I wouldn't go near adsl with a 10 foot pole. Seems most of the complaints here are adsl related. I have notice the ping times have slowly moved up more and more over the years. What use to be 10-15 ping has moved up to 25-35 ping to nz servers and around 70 ping to aus servers. Data caps have slowly moved up but note that they are not a cost tool but purely a tool to keep internet bandwidth up, The system is not capable of handling everyone downloading at once. I do miss the good old days of downloading 500gb a month through dc++ when they had free Telstra to Telstra traffic. Speeds are more than perfect. I have never personally worried about speeds so its not a big seller for me. 20min show usual takes 2-3 mins to download so can't complain. 11 April 2012

40 Cory Fairly certain 20kbps download speed is a joke. Had to talk to some foreigner that I couldn't understand when I first set it up, took a while for them too actually activate broadband. 45 rehan We have the 75$ broadband package and even though we right in town where it should run fast I often have multiple pages timeout especially when watching online soaps or movies it gets stuck or starts to buffer everytime . I cannot say that customer service is hopeless because they have helped me in past for reimbursing my money which they charged me for not even calling anyone and i keep my records regularly of dialled phone numbers. Also it took quite a while to get the router from them. Whenever I call them in regards to my buffering they say that there is nothing wrong with the connection then why does it buffer in the middle of a program. this is also the same case @ my friends place who I recommended telstra but it has let me down big time Unfortunately the problems remains! I should have stuck to my old ISP which never had such a problem but the deal carried me away and if it doesn't work in future on my remaing contract I will have to look for some other ISP and I will seriously think that people who took Telstra on target were in the right direction 14 June 2012

46 I've been with TelstraClear since 2008, and I can tell it is Super fast, although it is a cable internet but the speed sometime exceed the targeted max speed (20Mb/s), very satisfy with their internet speed, and I rarely got any internet problem with their internet, however no one is perfect, the customer service is sometime horrible and long waited time, still I'm very satisfy with their reliability and speed. 10 July 2012

50 Johnny Its not going to happen on midmeldore,I'm just going to repeat what had already been posted in the poll area Its going to be a long, slow wait for Middlemore to get decent broadband speeds. (Much longer than 12 months!)Daventry's BT Infinity roll-out has been delayed by BT for 12 months, as indicated by a poster above, however BT's roll-out schedule for Daventry specifically EXCLUDES the Middlemore estate from the Infinity upgrade (always has done).Why I hear you ask BT's Infinity roll-out is FTTC (Fibre to the Cab), resulting in high-speed equipment being installed in the local street cab (Dark Green box) enabling the last few meters from the cabinet to the your home to use the existing copper cable, this allows speeds of around 40Mpbs.Middlemore is not having this technology installed by BT. Middlemore's BT ducting is large enough to blow Fibre down it to your actual house, known as fibre to the premises (FTTP), this will allow initial connection of 100Mbps and can be upgraded to pretty much any speed you want as the technology grows in the future.So in future Middlemore will have very very fast broadband, but at present, BT have to complete the Infinity project before they move on to the FTTP project.Expect 2014 at the earliest, whilst friends in other parts of Daventry should get 40Mbps broadband this time next year. Sure, you can hassle BT, but i'd rather have FTTH then the slower FTTC which is what the funding is for. 31 October 2012

57 Margaret then we had a massive bill with added data. Phoned them and changed to an unlimited plan. We were never advised we would need to update our plan on a certain day nor did we receive any documentation advising renewal was required. we ended up with a huge bill. on calling call centre were told we had not renewed our contract. 28 July 2016
